Alexion, based in Monksland, is focused on providing innovative treatments to patients with life-threatening rare diseases for which there are few, if any, effective treatment options. Its Athlone facility is its second biologics manufacturing facility in Ireland and sits alongside the location’s existing fill-finish facility.

Athlone Pharmaceuticals, based in Ballymurray near Roscommon town, are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of oral beta – lactam antibiotics in Western Europe. Located in the heart of Ireland, Athlone Laboratories manufacturing operation supplies an ever increasing number of companies world-wide. Alkermes, based in Monksland, is a leader in innovative medicines that address the unmet needs and challenges of people living with debilitating diseases. In particular, Alkermes is focused on drug development for central nervous system (CNS) diseases such as schizophrenia, major depressive disorder and multiple sclerosis.

Food Processing

Aurivo Ltd., based in Ballaghaderreen, manufactures a variety of powdered milks and butter for export to 50 countries worldwide. They process 300million litres of milk annually from 1,000 milk suppliers in the broader region.

Kepak Meats, based in Athleague since 1988 is a both a lamb and beef processor exporting across the world. It is the sole lamb processing plant for the group.

Black Donkey Brewing, based in Ballinlough, produces handcrafted multi award winning beers of the highest quality. All products are brewed and packaged on site in Roscommon using, wherever possible, locally sourced ingredients. Black Donkey Brewing distributes its products both directly to its retailers and via distributors. It currently exports to Russia, Uk and the US.

Castlemine Farm Foods, based in Fourmilehouse, Co. Roscommon, specialise in hand reared pasture fed dry aged beef, lamb and free range pork which is sold in their shop in Roscommon town. They have won a number of national awards including the 2019 Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Award.
